Amy Winehouse has overdosed on drugs twice in the last 12-months, according a friend of the singer.
The friend, who isn't named, told the Sun newspaper that Winehouse's first overdose happened in August last year after she took a cocktail of drugs including cocaine and heroin.
She is also said to have overdosed again in July after inhaling an “inhuman” amount of cannabis, the friend claimed.
At the time, Winehouse's father, Mitch, said that the singer had fallen ill after suffering a reaction to prescribed medication.
“The future is bleak, bleak, bleak. Mitch does everything he can to protect his daughter - but his ‘explanation’ for Amy’s hospital dash in July was just simply untrue,” the friend told the newspaper.
“She had smoked an inhuman amount of hash which resulted in acute cannabis poisoning. You have to take a shitload of pot to suffer that severe a reaction.”
As previously reported on Gigwise, Winehouse pulled out of the Rock En Seine festival last Friday due to illness.
Organisers have said they may take legal action over her withdrawal, which came hours before she was scheduled to take to the stage.
