Moonfest Festival organiser John Green has revealed that Wiltshire police dislike having Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty living in the county.
Green, who was forced to cancel this weekend's festival after Babyshambles were banned from performing said, said he had been told privately that they “hate the fact he lives in Wiltshire”.
He also told the Guardian that police said they “don't want him on their patch.”
As previously reported on Gigwise, police won a case at North Wiltshire Magistrate's on Monday, in which they claimed Doherty's band could incite violence.
They used YouTube footage of a stage invasion which took place during Doherty's recent solo show at the Royal Albert Hall to argue their case.
The court's decision to ban Babyshambles from performing prompted Green to confirm this morning that the whole festival was cancelled.
Organisers say they hope to contact everyone directly who purchased tickets for the festival.
Doherty is understood to be planning a free performance in conjunction with the festival's organisers to make up for the cancellation.
