US rapper Jay-Z says his recent European tour, which included an appearance at Glastonbury, was one of the greatest experiences of his performing career.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, the rapper, whose real name is Shawn Carter, praised fans who had come to see him.
He also addressed the criticisms of his booking at Glastonbury, which he said in hindsight “was ready for a hip-hop act to headline”.
“The statement they made before I got onstage was ‘come out and if you’re brilliant, you’re brilliant and if you’re crap, you’re crap.’ And I came up and I delivered on it.,” he said.
“And as the far as the rest of Europe, I’m being very honest, I really had the best run I ever had in my life.”
