Kate Bush has turned 50 years of age today – and to mark the singer's half century Gigwise has created an ultimate photo guide to her 30 year career.
One of the most illustrious performers of all time, Bush was born in Kent in 1958 and shot to fame at the age of nineteen with the 1978 single 'Wuthering Heights', which topped the UK charts for four weeks.
As a string of hugely successful solo albums followed, spawning hits like 'Running Up That Hill' and 'Hounds Of Love', the performer made a deliberate decision to step back from the public eye.
But she returned after a ten year hiatus in 2005 with 'Aerial', which received wide-spread critical acclaim.
Roy Harper, who duetted with the star, called her a “perfectionist with her art.”
Speaking to the BBC, musician Colin Lloyd Tucker, who appeared on Bush's 1993 album 'The Red Shoes', said he remembers the singer's less public achievements.
“She makes a lovely ham salad sandwich,” he revealed.
