If Barack Obama walks into the Oval office next January as the President of the United States the entire worlds view of America will change overnight, according to Coldplay singer Chris Martin.

Martin says that people will become “a bit more optimistic” if Obama successfully defeats rival John McCain in the country's general election in November.

“If Obama was to be president, it would immediately change the whole outside world's opinion of America overnight,” the singer told Rolling Stone.

“America's public image at the moment is really bad. And it's a bummer, because over half of Americans are the coolest people on the planet. But they've been so misrepresented.”

As previously reported, Coldplay released their new studio album 'Viva La Vida' today (June 12th).

The record, which is the bands fourth album, is expected to smash chart records this weekend and top the UK album countdown.
