Michael Moore 'Outraged' By Madonna Adoption Criticism

Filmmaker Michael Moore said he was “outraged” by the widespread criticism Madonna received for adopting a baby from Africa.

The pop star divided opinion 18-months ago when she began adoption proceedings for the Malawian child David Banda.

Some children’s rights groups said she should use her money to improve existing resources for children in their native countries, while others accused of using her celebrity status to fast track the process.

Speaking to the Associated Press, Moore said the criticism of Madonna was “just one more reminder to me of just how dishonest so much of the media is in this country.”

The filmmaker also confirmed that Madonna will attend the Traverse City Film Festival in August to present her new documentary I Am Because We Are.

The film, which received critical acclaim at the Cannes Film Festival, illustrates the devastation and poverty caused by Aids in Africa.

"You're extremely moved when you watch it. You understand very clearly why she's devoted so much of her life to the people of Malawi,” Moore said.
