June 2004: The beginning of the end – It all went downhill rather rapidly for The Libertines from June 2004. As Doherty flew to Thailand to receive treatment for his drug problems (and promptly went missing!), the band were forced to cancel shows and festival dates. The growing number of cancellations resulted in a statement that said Doherty had been exiled from the group because of “his well-known addiction problems”.
