This 1984 concept album about a man’s midlife crisis featured a cheeky hiker in red heels by the side of a grey road, waiting for a ride. The controversial nude might have been a happy middle-aged fantasy for Waters, but the public weren’t quite as easily convinced of the cover’s mainstream suitability.
