20. John Frusciante of Red Hot Chili Peppers -
After Chili Peppers guitarist Hillel Slovak died of a drug overdose in 1988, Frusciante was the man to step into his shoes in more ways than one. After years of excess, Frusciante developed a serious heroin addiction which became a overriding influence on his solo work.
