So Solid Crew rapper Megaman must face a retrial next March after a court failed to find a verdict in his murder trial.
However, his co-defendant and former So Solid Crew producer Carl Morgan was found guilty and was sentenced to at least 30 years in jail for the killing of a love rival.
The judge in the case said the sentence shows that gun crime will not be tolerated reports the BBC. Passing sentence Judge Brian Barker said: "Gun use is the scourge of our streets and causes misery and distress. You expected eye witnesses would be cowed into silence and that ploy very nearly succeeded."
The case surrounded the murder of Colin Scarlett in 2004. Scarlett was the partner of Morgan’s ex-girlfriend.
Megaman, real name Dwayne Vincent, was accused of encouraging Morgan to shoot Scarlett after an earlier incident between the pair.
