Mumford & Sons revealed their new song, 'Believe', on Annie Mac's inaugural Radio One show last night and - you might want to sit down for this - the reaction was mixed.
The new song seemed the death of the instrument for which Mumfords are best known and maligned - the banjo. Instead, the band favour electric guitars and balladry in a style not dissimilar to Coldplay.
Listen to 'Believe' below:
Some were delighted with Mumfords' new sound.

Believe is incredible, it sounds like a hymn, I can't wait to hear Mumford's new album and to see them live (i dun miss the banjo that much)

Some... weren't.
As expected Mumford & Sons' new single is grimmer than the grimmest day in Grimsby and wetter than the wettest weekend in Wigan.

These noise-cancelling headphones are useless. I can still hear this Mumford And Sons album that's playing on my iPod.

I would love to know what the 'Significant change' in Mumford & Sons music is, its just as mind numbing as every other song by them

MUMFORD AND SONS RELEASE A SINGLE WHICH IS DIFFERENT THAN THE REST OF THEIR SONGS THAT ALL SOUND THE SAME AND IT STILL SUCKS

Really wanted to like the Mumford & Sons song as a troll but it's pretty boring and yes they are in fact Judases

Urbanisation has reached the depths of an Eco farm/micro brewery in the heart of the UK countryside ...Mumford and Sons are now electronic

While many were quick to point out the similarities to Coldplay.
Mumford + Sons - banjos = Coldplay.

Wow. Mumford & Sons have turned from a good Chaz & Dave into a bad Coldplay #Believe
— Lee Brook (@Lee_Brk) March 10, 2015
At least Mumford + Sons have veered away from the same banjo riff, but will have to hear more than a Coldplay b-side before I alter my hate.
