Forget Kasabian; Britain’s favourite funny man Pete Kaye is now the favourite to sing next year’s England World Cup anthem.
Kaye sang one of the year’s biggest tunes for Comic Relief with aging crooner Tony Christie ‘Is This The Way To Amarillo’
It is as yet unknown if Kaye will perform an original song or a cover. A friend of his said to the Daily Star: "He fancies doing an original song. But even if he picks a classic, it will be brilliantly done and will quickly become a terrace smash."
It has been rumoured that should the comedian write an original song it will probably make use of the words ‘Ave It!’ a la his John Smith’s commercial.
