It’s been reported that US singer songwriter Elliott Smith has died at the age of 34. The singer passed away in his Los Angeles apartment on 21st October. He was discovered by a friend, where he was found to have a knife wound on his body. He was rushed to Los Angeles County University of Southern California Medical Center but was pronounced dead an hour later.
It’s been suspected that the cause may have been suicide. Born in Portland in 1969, Smith recorded five albums during his lifetime. His song ‘Miss Misery’ was used in the film ‘Good Will Hunting’ in 1997 and was nominated for an academy award. He was busy recording his new album ‘From A Basement On A Hill’ which was to be completed at the end of the year. The singer joins Warren Zevon, Robert Palmer and Matthew Jay who have all died in the past month.
