The Futureheads Open Newcastle's Academy

Three of the North-East’s bright lights opened the new Carling Academy in Newcastle on Saturday and Gigwise was there.

The Futureheads, Field Music and Kubichek! wowed the packed new venue that hopes to draw more bands to the city amongst it’s burgeoning music scene.

Futureheads guitarist Ross Millard said recently: “This is what Newcastle has been crying out for, for years. It's amazing we've been asked to open the new Academy.”

He added: “It's always fantastic playing to a home crowd, and with Kubichek and Field Music, it's a real North East homecoming.”
