Iceland Airwaves Music Festival was first held in an aeroplane hanger in Reykjavik Airport back in 1999. Now held in venues around the Icelandic capital, since its inception nine years ago it has garnered a name for itself by showcasing some of the finest Icelandic, European and world bands on the circuit.
Iceland Airwaves 2008 celebrates its 10th Anniversary this year with a stellar line-up of new talent from around the globe, alongside a host of exclusive DJ sets and after show parties that singles it out as the prime European attraction in the festival calendar.
Its location, set amongst the sprawling expanse of beautiful Iceland, gives Airwaves an inspiring and creative setting, and the ultimate experience for any festival-goer.
Music acts that have previously played the five day festival include Sigur Ros, Kaiser Chiefs, Klaxons, TV on the Radio, The Flaming Lips, The Kills, Fatboy Slim, Hot Chip, Architecture in Helsinki, GusGus and Ratatat.
2009 includes Hafdis Huld, Gus Gus, Metronomy,The Drums and many more all set to perform at the event. It promises to be a cracker.
