More Kate Bush Catherine Bush was born July 30th 1958 in Bexleyheath, Kent. She started playing the violin at the age of nine, but her heart strings were only truly plucked by the piano. She spent her teens writing songs and playing the organ in a barn at the back of her house. It all really began after a demo arranged for Kate by a family friend was heard by Pink Floyd’s Dave Gilmour.
The infamous ‘Wuthering Heights’ was an instant hit in 1978 and slapped the charts at Number 1 when little Kate was a mere 20 years old. From then on Kate’s fans were fixed, but due to her experimentation and adamant attitude to keeping her work with absolute affinity to herself, reviews were sometimes mixed.
The distinctly different dancer studied mime and dance with Lindsey Kemp, whose students include David Bowie. Kate appeared on Peter Gabriel’s ‘Games without Frontiers’, and again on his ‘Don’t Give Up’ hit in 1986.In 1987 Kate won ’Best British Female’ BRIT Award. Kate’s most recent hit before her 12 year absence was ‘Rubberband Girl’, whose video was filmed in the theme of red in accordance with album ‘The Red Shoes’.
The lady of the hills returned in 2005 with album ‘Aerial’ which includes single ‘King of the Mountain’. She worked on the album for the majority of her absence, whilst bringing up her son. She said the album nearly killed her, and almost gave up on the work a number of times, but is happy she persevered.
And so she goes on afraid of what might be...
