Sugababes Number One In UK Singles Chart

Not much to cheer about with album chart either...

October 02, 2005 by Jeff Ando

The Sugababes are top of the UK singles chart this week with their latest release 'Push The Button'.

The track is their fourth number one single, pushing the Pussycat Dolls slip down to two after three weeks in the top spot with 'Don't Cha'. Sean Paul remains at three with 'We Be Burnin', with Kanye West's 'Gold Digger' at four.

Popstars rejects Liberty X - bizarrely with a little help from ex-Run DMC member Reverend Run - announce their latest attempt at this pop group malarkey with 'Song 4 Lovers', their first release in 18 months, a new entry at five.

In the album charts, Katie Melua's 'Piece by Piece' goes straight in at number one, with David Gray's 'Life in Slow Motion' dropping down to number two.

The depressing Radio 2 playlist nature of the chart is completed with jazz muppet Jamie Cullum getting the second highest new entry at four with his new album 'Catching Tales'.
