In stark contrast to his peace and love hippy ideals, John Lennon was supposedly something of a bastard as a parent, according to his first wife Cynthia.
She claims that their son Julian was scarred by Lennon's neglectful and unpleasant behaviour. One incident in particular damaged him so much he rarely laughs.
She recounts a scene where the whole family had been fooling around when Julian giggled.
"John turned on him and screamed: 'I can't stand the way you ****ing laugh! Never let me hear your ****ing horrible laugh again.'
"Julian fled to his room in tears."
