Reggae star Buju Banton will go on trial next month in Jamaica for an alleged role in an attack on a group of six gay men, a judge announced on Friday.
The 31 year-old artist and another man are accused of beating the men at a house in Jamaica, in June 2004. Both men have pleaded 'not guilty', with the trial set to begin on 19 October.
Last year Banton had to cancel concerts in Europe and the US following protests by gay groups over their allegedly homophobic lyrics.
He was banned from playing in Manchester last month following complaints over the homophobic content of his lyrics.
