The Flaming Lips have revealed that they’ve found a new sound during the recording of their next album.
The band have been putting down material for ‘At War With The Mystics’, the follow-up to 2002’s ‘Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots’, and Wayne Coyne says they’re are finding new directions all the time.
Coyne told MTV: "Without any true intention, I think we've found some guitar-rock things that we're freaked out about. People will see that some of it has gone more weird rock."
Coyne also revealed that the album will tackle current issues, he says: "I don't think you could be making any art in the atmosphere that we're in now — with the war and the different ways people feel about the Bush administration and all that — without having some things that sort of, not address that specifically, but address this whole idea of what you do with power"
He added: "When is the time to have mercy? And when is the time to be aggressive? I think we have some things on the record that I hope will stand the test of time long after this war is over and all these young guys have come home."
