Yesterday rapper Lil’ Kim reported to a federal detention centre to begin serving her 1 year and 1 day prison sentence after being convicted of perjury and conspiracy.
Kim believed she would be serving her time in a minimum security prison camp, officials were rumoured to be sending her to either West Virginia or Connecticut, but it turns out she will be incarcerated in the Philadelphia Federal Detention Centre.
According to AllHipHop this particular centre houses over 1000 inmates, many of whom are awaiting criminal trials or sentencing.
Kim was not very pleased about her new living arrangements and had this to say:
"I have unfortunately been assigned to a federal detention centre instead of a prison camp as discussed, in the City of Philadelphia. I am not certain that this constitutes fair & equal treatment,"
"However, today begins a new saga in my life which I expect to strengthen me and allow me time for reflection. I am blessed to have so many great things in my life - family, friends, and God. All will be in my thoughts daily. I plan to write music while in prison, read and pray regularly and will come out a stronger, more confident woman."
As ever, Kim was full of praise for the fans that have supported her through her trial…
"I will write many of my fans, and expect the 'Lil Kim' brand to be even bigger when I come out - I am just getting started in my career...Thanks to all for their thoughts and prayers...and I will see you soon."
Lil’ Kim’s new album, ‘The Naked Truth’ is out on September 27.
