A judge in America has frozen the assets of Hip Hop mogul Marion ‘Suge’ Knight.
It comes after he was ordered in March this year to pay $107m (£57m) to a woman, Lydia Harris, who claims she helped found his Death Row records label in 1989.
Mrs Harris’ husband – an imprisoned drug dealer – has begun divorce proceedings and is claiming that he is entitled to half the money, prompting Knight’s assets to be frozen reports the BBC.
He claims he put up $1.5m in 1991 to help start the company; however Knight has strenuously denied the claims.
He filed for divorce in June after learning his wife was in settlement negotiations with Knight, said his lawyer Steven M Goldberg. Goldberg said Mr Harris sought a divorce to block the alleged settlement.
Monterey County Superior Court Judge Adrienne M Grover froze the assets the day after Knight was recently shot at a party in Miami before the MTV awards.
The judge's decision to add Knight as a party to the divorce blocks him from disposing or transfering any of his assets.
