Arctic Monkeys are on track to score the fastest selling album of 2013 with new release AM, after topping the midweek charts with their latest record.

AM is the fitfh studio album from Arctic Monkeys and should Alex Turner and Co maintain their lead, it would mean they are the first independent act to achieve such a feat in British chart history. If sales continue, the Sheffield band could set the 2013 record for the fastest selling album of the year, beating Daft Punk - who sold 165,000 copies of their album Random Access Memories in the first week of it's release.

London Grammar look set to take the No.2 spot, with their debut album If You Wait following on from the success of their Top 40 singles. Also new to the charts this week is the latest album from Goldfrapp at No.3 and the debut record from Irish group, The Strypes at No.5.

The rest of the Top 5 is staying fairly similar to last week, with Ellie Goulding and Avicci holding onto their places at spots 2 and 3, while new single from Drake Ft. Majid Jordan, 'Hold On We're Going Home' climbs to No.5.

Coldplay's new single 'Atlas', which features on the soundtrack for the new The Hunger Games movie hits the Top 10, entering at No.7, and Example is chasing close behind them with 'All The Wrong Places' at No.9.

Finally it looks like Arcade Fire could be heading for a Top 40 position with 'Reflektor'. The track, which features David Bowie was released on Monday (September 9th) at 9pm and is already sitting at Number 48.
