US investigators believe they have found evidence of an assassination plot against 50 Cent.
Court papers emerged yesterday (September 7) revealing the alleged assassination plans thought to have been hatched by drug lord Kevin ‘Supreme’ McGriff and employees at the music label Murder Inc.
The feud between 50 Cent and McGriff is thought to have been sparked over the lyrics to Fiddy’s song ‘Ghetto Koran’ on which the hip-hop megastar apparently raps about the drug lord’s criminal history.
The song was recorded in 200 long before Cent broke into the mainstream.
Investigators are also examining whether there is a connection between the killing of Run DMC legend Jam Master Jay and the apparent feud between Fiddy and McGriff.
Agent Frances Mace wrote in a 2003 statement: ‘Messages transmitted over the Murder Inc. pager indicate that McGriff is involved in an ongoing plot to murder this rap artist.’
50 Cent was shot nine times and wounded in 2000 and according to the affidavit was ‘blacklisted in the music industry’.
McGriff is currently on trial in New York on multiple murder charges. Murder Inc founder Irving Lorrenzo and his brother Chris have a pending trial for allegedly laundering McGriff’s drug money.
