Good Day To Be Green Day

Green DayThat annual celebration of throwing “the horns” and putting on your best black make up, the Kerrang awards, took place last night, and Green Day have emerged as top dogs.

Scooping the Best Live Band and Best Band On The Planet awards, the veterans of pop-punk were up against thrashy Armenian nutters System of a Down with five nominations each. System however failed to walk away with any gongs at the end of the night.

Hosting the event were none other then new rocker Juliette Lewis and ex-Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable.

Emo/goth types My Chemical Romance also did well out of the night, bagging Best Album and Best Video. Iron Maiden, Killing Joke, Trent Reznor and Marilyn Manson all won lifetime achievement-style awards, so it’s three cheers for industrial metal and, er, Maiden.

Rock legends Iron Maiden are headlining this years Reading Festival.
