Mick Jagger has poured scorn on suggestions that The Rolling Stones are too old for their upcoming world tour, stating that he feels the band benefit from their advanced years.
The band, who have been together since 1962, begin the US leg of their 18-month world tour in Boston on Sunday, organised to support the release of their forthcoming 'A Bigger Bang' LP.
Jagger is convinced that the gigs will be their best yet, that their music has matured with them.
"We wouldn't tour unless someone said: 'Look, there are a lot of people who want to see you.' If you have creative energy age doesn't matter," he said.
"The Rolling Stones kept their creative forces, maybe because we don't make records every 10 minutes.
"When you're young, you tend to be angry a lot. Later, you're able to express diverse emotions. I do draw from my life."
Guitarist Keith Richards added: "They wonder why we're still here. Well why not? We're a great band. We love to play."
