Britney Spears has ended her contract with The X Factor US as she knew that the show's producers probably wouldn't ask her to return.
A source told the Daily Mail, "Britney and her team knew it was unlikely she'd be asked back as a judge. The producers have already been making other plans for next season over the holidays.
"The reality is that toward the end of last season the main players knew they wanted to replace both Britney and LA Reid. LA Reid wasn't at the top of his game in second season and he knew that."
Another source added, "Most people didn't expect Britney to make it through the season as its a demanding role but she did her best."
However, according to the Las Vegas Sun, Britney could be considering a residency on the Vegas Strip, with a sigificant production show run.
An insider told the Las Vegas Sun, "She is the one and only logical all-around star with a full touring production spectacular made for Las Vegas now that hotels and nightclubs are partnering up to land the biggest talents."
Could the Strip see a new residency from Britney Spears in the future?
They continued, "Britney has one very real proposal on the table, but now that it's definite she's leaving X Factor with a Las Vegas show finally in her future, it's likely there will be a bidding war by other properties on and just off the Strip."
The residency would be likely to be similar to previous ones by Shania Twain and Celine Dion, which took place in Caesars Palace.
