Michael Jackson’s defence lawyer has criticised the media for their coverage of the pop star’s trial. Thomas Mesereau believes certain sections of the media were “ill-informed” and he attacked Court TV for bothering his defence team during the trial.
Speaking at the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association conference, he said: “I truly believe the media thought they could spin their way to a verdict… We lost the battle of spin, but we won the battle in the courtroom.”
Mesereau was also happy with the way the jury conducted themselves despite the intense media pressure. He said: “Our juries are stronger than the media. That is why the media is wrong so often in high-profile trials.”
