Sam Lufti, Britney Spears' former manager, has accused the star of being 'addicted to amphetamines' in a Los Angeles court case.
Lufti is in court suing Spears and her family for defamation, breach of contract and libel after he was sacked from his position in 2009. He claims that he was made a scapegoat for Spears' own problems, and that he was working with the star in an attempt to help her with her addiction problems.
"She liked to use amphetamines. Mostly everything that went wrong was because of this drug," said Lufti's attorney Joseph Schleimer to the jury at LA's Superior Court, adding that she had "a prescription for amphetamines, and overdosed on them".
Schleimer also claims that Spears shaved her head in 2007 in order to avoid taking a drugs test, despite his attempts to help her through her problems.
Images from this incident were included in Schleimer's opening statements, reminding those assembled of a star very different to the one currently serving as a celebrated judge on X Factor USA.

Schleimer also claims that Lufti brought sniffer dogs to Spear's LA home and discovered a substance believed to be crystal meth on the property.
Lufti is seeking millions of pounds in compensation from Spears and her estate, claiming his contract entitled him to 15% of her earnings.
The trial continues.
