One Direction have joined the ranks of Britney Spears, Madonna and David Beckham by signing up to endorse Pepsi in America.
The teen boyband, who have become a household name in America in the past twelve months, have reportedly signed a highly lucrative deal with the soft-drink giant and will appear in an American Football themed TV advert for the brand.
Speaking to The Sun about the deal, an insider says: “This is a huge deal for them in monetary terms — but even bigger for status as the coverage they’ll get from it is massive.
Adding: “They’re already stars across America, but this could catapult them to superstardom.”
One Direction hit the headlines this week when they succesfully won a legal case filed against them by a US punk band of the same name.
The other One Direction, a punk band from America, claimed that they had the name before the UK boyband were created on the X Factor in 2010. They sought $1m in compensation as well as a future cut of the group's earnings.
However, as you may expect from a Simon Cowell backed band, Harry Styles and co. won the legal battle and the US punk band will now be called Unchartered Shores.
