An intruder at LL Cool J's LA home was left in hospital after the star attacked the man when he broke into the rapper's house.

The rapper is reported to have attacked the man after investigating a disturbance in the middle of the night at home. American gossip website TMZ reports that the suspect entered the rapper's home at 2am, but was disturbed by the 'Mama Said Knock You Out' star.

The man is currently recovering in hospital and is thought to have mental health problems. TMZ also report that the intruder suffered a broken nose and jaw. LL Cool J is not expected to face charges over the incident.

LL Cool J is safe an unharmed, with a spokesperson saying: "He is committed to keeping his family safe and is cooperating with authorities."
