Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine claimed that US president Barack Obama "staged" the Dark Knight cinema shootings in Texas at a gig in Singapore last week.

Mustaine, speaking from the stage, suggested the president was "staging" recent killings in order to pass a ban on guns in the USA.

A video of the singer's comments can be viewed below, in which he goes on to say that America is "turning into Nazi America".

Mustaine said: "Back in my country, my president he’s trying to pass a gun ban, so he’s staging all of these murders, like the ‘Fast And Furious’ thing down at the border Aurora, Colorado, all the people that were killed there and now the beautiful people at the Sikh temple.

"I don’t know where I’m gonna live if America keeps going the way it’s going because it looks like it’s turning into Nazi America."

Megadeth are due to start a tour South American tour starting in Colombia next month.
