According to the will of Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch, it’s prohibited to use his music for advertising purposes after his death.
The last will and testament was filed on Tuesday and reportedly contains a clause that means advertisers cannot use his music, likeness or any art that he has created – as well naming his wife, Dechen, the executor of his estate and leaving $6.4 million to her and their daughter Tenzin Losel.
The will reads: “Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, in no event may my image or name or any music or any artistic property created by me be used for advertising purposes,” with the phrase ‘or any music or any artistic property created by me’ reportedly added in handwriting.
Yauch, known as MCA, died of cancer in May this year aged 47.
