Melvin Benn, the organiser of the Reading and Leeds festivals, has tipped Paramore to headline the festival in the near future.
Paramore, led by Hayley Williams, will perform directly before headliners The Cure at Reading on Friday, August 24 and Leeds on Sat, Aug 25 and Benn sees no reason as to why the group won't be top of the bill in years to come.
"Paramore - you are seeing future headliners. No question in my view. The act that plays before the headliner will get a similar expectation from the audience," he told BBC Radio 1.
Benn added that Paramore have declined the opportunity to headline other UK festivals to play at Reading and Leeds with The Cure. "They didn't want to do it. They wanted to play that position with The Cure at Reading and Leeds. They will know when the time's right, and the time will be right soon, I'm sure."
Benn added that he expects Florence,+ The Machine and The Black Keys to make similar leaps from second on the bill to headline status in the coming years.
