After teaming up with New Kids On The Block to former supergroup NKOTBSB, Backstreet Boys have returned to their five-piece original line up and are back in the studio recording new music.

The boyband had been working without original member Kevin Richardson, who has now returned to the fold to record a new studio album, to coincide with the band's 20th anniversary in April 2013.

"Being back with my brothers again feels great," say Richardson in a statement. "I love these guys. We have gone through so much together. We just have a chemistry... a bond that will always be."

The reunited boyband are due to make their first performance as a five-piece on 31 August in New York's Central Park as part of Good Morning America's Summer Concert Series.

"We couldn't be happier to have our brother back with us," adds Nick Carter.

Brian Litterll also says: "Having Kevin back in the mix adds that extra special magic to our group. We're over the moon to have him back and it's a great way to give back to our fans."

The band are working with Martin Terefe on their new album. Terefe has previously produced records for Mary J Blige and Jason Mraz.
