Clean-up has begun in Hyde Park after the British summer did its worst during this weekend's Wireless Festival, turning the central London park into a mudbath. Now, the race is on to ready thr ground for a summer of scheduled outdoor events.

Wireless Fesival is the latest in series of open air concerts to fall foul to this summer's rainy weather, however it was the festival's venue Hyde Park that really suffered. The famous London park was set to play host to a series of concerts this summer in the run up to the Olympics, but the combination of heavy rain and 65,000 festival goers left the ground in a sorry state, needing repair work ahead of upcoming gigs from the likes of Blur, New Order and Paul Simon.

The Manager of Hyde Park, Steve Edwards says experts from the The Royal Parks Are currently assessing the extent of the damage to the ground, and will certainly have a challenge getting the park ready for the next event.

"The Royal Parks' experts are on site looking at a range of options to ensure that concertgoers can continue to have a safe and enjoyable experience," he tells The Evening Standard.

When the concerts have finished the ground restoration plan will go ahead, however with only three weeks until the Olympic Games and more heavy rain forecast, there is question as to whether the grounds will be ready for the huge influx of tourists.
