Nine people have been stabbed at a Swedish House Mafia gig in Ireland with one man arrested following the incident.

The huge electronic act headlined an open air show at Dublin's Phoenix Park on Saturday night (July 7) where the incident took place. Irish police believe that one man stabbed up to four others whilst the remaining casualties occured in a subsequent row.

BBC News reports that three of those stabbed were seriously injured, one critically.

MCD, the company who promoted the event, issued a statement through managing director Denis Desmond which reads: "Ticket holders entering the site were subject to a search permissible by law."

"Every precaution, as far as possible, was taken to ensure the safety and security of the audience at all times. Despite our best efforts - with security and gardaí personnel levels well in excess of the required numbers for a licensed event of this size - there is only so much one can do to combat anti-social behaviour."

Snoop Dogg, Tinie Tempah and Calvin Harris all performed in Phoenix Park this weekend.

Another man, unrelated to the stabbings, also reportedly died of a drug overdose at the event.
