Katy Perry has revealed she had to chose between her husband Russell Brand and her fans - leading to her divorce from he UK star last year.
Perry reveals that it was her commitment to her fans that led to the end of the pair's relationship, and her being unwilling to change her busy popstar lifestyle for her then-husband.
"If I could edit it any other way I would, but that is exactly the way it was," she said in an interview with The Sun newspaper. "I always had plans to make this record and usually with a record, you tour a record. Touring is always important to me. It's like a big IOU to my fans, because I know they are the reason I exist."
"Then last year, in my relationship, it's like I didn't want to change.
"I wanted to stay as a performer who has so much love for my fans, and I don't want to ever think I would have to choose between them."
She also revealed she had no plans to revisit the heartache of the divorce on the follow up to her 'Teenage Dream' album, adding:
"I'd never devote a whole record to heartbreak. I'm happy, I'm in a good place, I'm looking forward to my future."
