US singer and UK festival regular Kelis has premiered a new track, a collaboration with Magnetic Man star Skream. Listen below.
'Distance' is the first new track from the 'Acapella' singer since her 2010 album 'Flesh Tone', which heard the singer ditch her previous R&B sound for a creative club sound. Her reinvented sound earned critical praise and her energetic live shows made her a live favourite, with impressive tours and festival appearances.
'Distance' is taken from her as-yet-untitled sixth album and is a downbeat slice of electronic pop music which was premiered this weekend (30 June, 2012) on DJ Nikki Beatnik's Reprezent Radio show.
Speaking to the NME about the track previously, Kelis said: "I was working with a friend of mine and she said 'Skream's got this great track for you, can I get him to send it?'. So I said yes and then he sent that track and something else. I've been on a real 1990s vibe with this record, it's kind of trip-hoppish. So I wrote a track to that."
She also revealed that she is 'midway through' recording her new album. Listen to 'Distance' below.
