Adele has admitted that she would not enjoy the idea of an ex-boyfriend writing songs about her the way she has written about them.

The '21' star, appearing on The Today Show in the US, told host Matt Lauer that she has always protected the identities of her song subjects. Asked how she would feel to be on the receiving end of a bittersweet song, Adele joked: ‘I’d f****** s*** myself. I’d be mortified."

Adding: ‘But also if they wrote songs about me, they’d be: ‘This song’s about Adele’. I’ve never given any names ever, but everyone’s going to know this song’s about me. No-one actually knows who my songs are about’

Meanwhile, the London born star also revealed that she thought a phonecall she received from Elton John was a joke by one of her friends.

“I had no idea who it was and he just started chatting away," she revealed. "I passed the phone over to a friend and I was like, ‘Yeah, it’s Elton’. It still cracks me up. It made me think, ‘My God, it’s another level now’.”
