John Legend has criticised the decision to hire Britney Spears for X Factor USA, saying that she is not a real singer.
The news that Spears will join Simon Cowell on the X Factor judging panel alongside LA Reid and fellow new recruit Demi Lovato, has been criticised by some and Legend made his feelings clear when quizzed on the subject by E! News this week.
Initially reluctant to provide an answer, Legend said: “You know it’s interesting. It should be very interesting. I don’t have much to say.” Before elaborating and stating: “It’s interesting when people, you know, are judging singing competitions when they aren’t really singers.”
Legend has clarified his comments via Twitter, saying he wasn't talking about Demi Lovato. “I’ve never heard demi’s voice btw. Wasn’t referring to her,” he Tweeted.
