Following their Avengers Assemble track 'Live To Rise', Soundgarden have revealed plans to release a new album in October of this year.

The album, which will be the band's first release since their 1996 album 'Down On The Upside', is already finished, reveals frontman Chris Cornell, and will be mastered before the end of May 2012.

"It's done. It'll be out in probably October," says Cornell in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine. "I would say September but I'm just guessing October. We're pretty much done with everything."

He also revealed that 'Born To Rise' was one of the final tracks the band worked on, and while not representative of the sound of the whole album, would "work just fine on it."
