Scott Weiland of Velvet Revolver has had a drug charge against him dismissed by a judge after he completed a rehab programme. The rehab sentence related to an arrest in May 2003, when the car in which Weiland was a passenger was pulled over in California and cocaine and heroin were found.
The former member of the Stone Temple Pilots has faced drugs charges twice before in the state of California, in 1996 and 1997 and once before in New York in 1998.
According the Rolling Stone, Weiland was at first sentenced to three year probation and rehab, counselling, random drugs testing and enforced AA attendance.
Months after his 2003 arrest, Weiland was arrested for driving under the influence and ordered to re-enter a live in rehab programme, he was allowed the leave the centre for a few hours a day to complete the recording of the Velvet Revolver album ‘Contraband’.
The album went on to achieve platinum sales and the band have since toured the globe.
