Details surrounding the remake of RoboCop have been announced.
Director Jose Padilha has confirmed that the 1980s remake will be released on August 9 2013.
RoboCop told the story of a slain policeman brought back to life with cyborg implants.
The lead role has been given to Joel Kinnanman, who beat off competition from the likes of Michael Fassbender and Russell Crowe.
As previously reported on Gigwise, Director Jose Padilha has insisted that his version of RoboCop will not be a straight remake of Paul Verhoeven's 1987 original.
Padilha told website Film1: "I love the sharpness and political tone of RoboCop, and I think that such a film is now urgently needed. But I will not repeat what Verhoeven did so clearly and strongly.
Instead I will try to make a film that will address topics that Verhoeven didn’t cover. What is the difference between humans and robots? What is free will? What does it mean to lose your free will? Those are the issues that I think."
