Adele has cancelled her planned US tour following warnings from doctors.

The singer, who made her live comeback at last month's Grammy Awards, underwent surgery to remove polyps from her vocal chords in November and was forced to cancel a string of 2011 dates.

According to reports, Adele has now shelved plans to hit the road again in the US after once again being told by doctors that she could permanently damage her voice if she pushes it too far.

A source told The Star on Sunday: "The surgery was successful but doctors are still concerned she could damage her golden voice."

"They have given the go-ahead for one-off shows but a full tour has been ruled out for now."

Adele's press office refused to comment on the story after being contacted by Gigwise.
