Thin Lizzy star Gary Moore was five times over the drink-drive limit before he died, tests have revealed.
The 58-year-old guitarist was found dead at a hotel in the Costa Del Sol, Spain last February.
A source told the Sun: "Mr Moore died of heart failure caused by alcohol.
"He had 380mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood in his body — enough to send most people into a coma. His body seems to have given up on him."
Moore made his name in Thin Lizzy before launching a successful solo career. He was also still actively touring.
Tributes have been paid from across the music world, including by Sir Bob Geldof, who called the guitarist, "without question, one of the great Irish bluesmen".
