Whitney Houston was found dead in her hotel bathroom from a possible drowning, according to reports.
The singer's publicist made the announcement of her passing in the early hours of this morning (February 12).
It is still unclear how Houston died but Police have confirmed the star was found on the fourth floor of the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles.
According to TMZ Houston and a group of friends "partied heavily" in the hotel bar and was later found in her hotel bath by a member of her entourage.
Houston has been previously affected by substance abuse and a turbulent marriage to singer Bobby Brown.
Her official website now directs users to a tribute page which states: "In loving memory".
Whitney won a Grammy for her soundtrack to 1992 film The Bodyguard which featured single I Will Always Love You.
