Dave Grohl is to help write and star in a new rock band comedy for cable channel FX.
The program created by comedian Dana Gould will feature Grohl who is to be an executive producer. Grohl will also star in the television comedy show which will document the troubles of a fictional troubled rock band as they seek help from a therapist to solve their musical differences.
Also working alongside Grohl and comedian Gould will be Tom Lassally who is known for 'Beavis and Butthead' and 'Louie's' Dave Becky. A previous effort by Gould 'Nolan Knows Best' was piloted last year but was not picked up by ABC, it is hoped that the addition of a big name such as Dave Grohl will help his currently unnamed production become a success.
While the Foo Fighters front-man was recently quoted as saying 2011 was his best year yet, a foray into television could see the singer reach even higher peaks.
It has been rumoured that Foo Fighters are also expected to release a new album later this year along with accompanying shows and festival performances.
