Simple Minds, the band that spawned a whole ‘Breakfast Club’ generation, have been signed to Sanctuary Records.
The original line up of the band Jim Kerr (vocals) and Charlie Burchill (guitar), with longtime drummer Mel Gaynor, and bass guitarist Eddy Duffy have come together to record a new album to delight their legions of fans across the globe.
The band will be releasing their first album on the label on September 12. The album is to be called ‘Black & White 050505’ and is being described as a return to the roots of the ‘classic atmospheric’ sound of Simple Minds.
The new album was recorded in Italy and Holland and mixed in LA by the legendary Bob Clearmountain, famed for working with the likes of Roxy Music, Rolling Stones and INXS.
The first single release from the album ‘Home’ will be released on September 5. The band also plan on performing at a series of intimate concerts at smaller venues around the UK in September…stay tuned for ore details.
