Former Oasis drummer, Tony McCarroll, is to sell the drum kit on which he recorded tracks for the bands most famous album 'Definitely Maybe'.
The news comes after the star cleaned out his shed in which the drum kit, which was used to record tracks such as 'Supersonic' and 'Rock n Roll Star', was being stored in along with other memorabilia.
McCarroll left Oasis in 1995 on bad times and later fought the Gallagher brothers in court in 1999 for lost profits from the band, he settled for an out of court payment of £600,000 and an agreement to cut all ties with the band. The drummer has lead a quite life since his heyday with the group while ex-bandmate Noel Gallagher has this week been made NME's Godlike Genius of the Year.
Previously stating that he has never taken advantage of his ties with Oasis, McCarroll is now rumoured to be selling his old drum kit to football star Wayne Rooney. Speaking to press he said "I heard a rumour Wayne Rooney was interested in buying the drum kit and thought that might be better than leaving it in storage. It has been locked away for years with all my old discs, so it's getting dusted down now.”
The proceeds of the auction for the Premier Kit will be split between personal gain but also partly donated to a music related charity, McCarroll has said.
The auction ends at the end of next month when a winner will be announced.
